Job Summary
The Zoo Quality Host role at the San Antonio Zoo is a part-time position focused on delivering outstanding guest service while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Responsibilities include preparing grounds and facilities for guest arrival, cleaning and maintaining restrooms and public areas, tending to mulch beds and pathways, assisting guests with information and directions, operating janitorial equipment safely, reporting maintenance issues, and supporting setup/breakdown for events. Candidates should demonstrate attention to detail, pride in presentation, ability to follow English instructions, and comfort working outdoors. Must be at least 16 years old, able to work days, weekends, holidays, and occasional after-hours, and pass required background checks and drug screening.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years of age or older
- Strong guest service and communication skills
- Ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions in English
- Physical ability to perform tasks involving bending, standing, kneeling, squatting, lifting, twisting, reaching, or sitting for extended periods
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Prior janitorial or custodial experience preferred
- Experience with cleaning chemicals and equipment is a plus
- Successful candidates must complete a pre-employment National Sex Offender Search, Criminal Background Check, and Drug Screen
- Must be available to work days, weekends, holidays, and occasional after-hours assignments
