Job Summary
z/OS Programmer responsible for planning and executing IBM System z/OS mainframe upgrades and installations. Tasks include developing implementation plans for OS/software/hardware upgrades on the IBM Mainframe platform, creating and delivering installation/upgrade documentation with detailed dataset names and configuration parameters, using SMP/e and related utilities (IEBGENER, IEBCOPY, IDCAMS) to manage software packages, and diagnosing abends via system logs and traces. The role requires creating, managing, and debugging z/OS parameters, datasets, and catalogs; configuring USS file systems; planning and updating documentation per government processes; and supporting batch processing and mainframe network components (VTAM, TCP/IP, FTP). Proficiency with z/OS utilities, storage management tools (DFHSM, ADRDSSU, SMS), and knowledge of IBM mainframe security products are needed. Certifications in A+ CE, CCNA Security, Network+ CE, SSCP, and Secret/IT-I clearance are required.
