Job Summary
Conduct face-to-face daily contact at youth homes, schools, and employment sites to administer home detention, electronic monitoring, and comprehensive services. Monitor client movement using GPS and tracking software while developing helping relationships that emphasize accountability. Provide advocacy in health, education, vocation, legal, and family areas, and coordinate with educational agencies, employers, and treatment programs to ensure court order compliance. Complete required documentation, including accountability sheets, mileage reports, and incident reviews, entering data promptly into the Show Me Courts system. Respond to critical violations and youth crises in a timely manner, which may occur during or after work hours. Attend court hearings as required and notify the director immediately regarding suspected illegal activity or program incidents. Maintain accurate records of compliance and non-compliance with court orders, and work as part of the team to support HDEM accreditation processes.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of work experience
- Valid driver's license from state of residence
- Proof of state mandated auto liability insurance
- Properly licensed, reliable vehicle
- Ability to successfully pass physical exam and physical abilities performance test
- Minimum age requirement of 21 years old
- Ability to work and maintain a flexible work schedule that may include working hours other than a traditional administrative work day/work week
- Ability to arrive punctually
- Ability to react to change productively
- Ability to handle other essential tasks as assigned
- Knowledge of adolescent behavior
- Ability to manage conflict and remain calm and in control in emergency or stressful situations
- Ability to supervise, motivate, counsel, and confront adolescents with behavioral problems and to set limits
- Patience and ability to relate in a positive fashion toward youth, families, and other individuals from a variety of cultural, economic, and ethnic backgrounds
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to prepare clear, logical reports
- Ability to follow instructions
- Ability to assist with goal-oriented casework
- Ability to project a positive role model
- Ability to operate a vehicle in a safe and prudent manner
- Ability to pass background screenings as part of the hiring process
- Ability to pass drug screenings, as applicable to the responsibilities of the role
- Ability to pass physical assessments, as applicable to the responsibilities of the role
- Ability to attend court hearings as required
- Ability to respond to critical violations in a timely manner, which may be during or after work hours
