Job Summary
Plan and implement age-appropriate, creative lesson plans and activities for school-aged participants from Kindergarten to 8th grade. Supervise students to foster academic and non-academic skills while maintaining a clean, safe classroom space. Model positive guidance and effective classroom management to ensure safety and well-being, acting swiftly in emergency situations. Take daily attendance and snack counts, and efficiently assist participants with homework and other academic needs. Collaborate with coworkers to promote healthy decision-making and responsibility in a diverse environment. Lead students in activities and utilize basic computer software for organizational tasks. Work part-time, Monday through Friday afternoons at 64-20 175th St, Fresh Meadows, NY.
Required Qualifications
- Able to supervise and foster students academic as well as non-academic skills
- Maintain a clean and safe classroom space
- Efficiently utilize time to help participants with homework and other academic needs
- Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to others as well as respond to incidents and act swiftly in emergency situations
- Excellent organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Experience with basic computer software programs (Google Docs, Sheets, etc.)
- Quick thinking/problem-solving skills
- Punctuality
- Adequate professionalism
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to take initiative and lead students in activities
- Must be able to attend training and meetings when required
- Must be able to take daily attendance and snack count
- Must be available for Monday-Friday Afternoons
