Job Summary
Youth Worker at the 360°kids Home Base Drop-in Centre provides client-centered, hands-on support for unhoused or at-risk youth, delivering life skills coaching, counselling, referrals, and advocacy. Responsibilities include registration and daily documentation, mentoring, liaising with participants, parents, schools and community partners, building positive relationships in the community, ensuring a safe place with access to basic needs (food, clothing, hygiene), following up on case plans and referrals, serving as a positive role model, and supporting housing needs for youth. The role requires engagement with youth through individual and group life skills sessions, information sessions, and collaboration with partners; other duties as required. Education/experience prerequisites include a post-secondary degree/diploma in a relevant field or equivalent experience, minimum three years’ experience with at-risk youth, and supervisory experience; French is an asset. Certifications and checks include First Aid/CPR, Broad [Criminal] Check, and a valid driver’s license.
Required Qualifications
- Post-Secondary degree/diploma in Child/youth related field or equivalent combination of education and experience working with youth
- Minimum of three years’ experience working with at-risk or street involved youth
- Minimum one year supervisory or management experience
- Leadership skills including motivation, delegation, coaching/mentoring and empowerment
- Knowledge of regulatory environment (e.g. CFSA) and client-focused counselling skills
- Excellent communication skills and adaptability
- Interpersonal skills for team building, negotiation, and conflict resolution
- Broad knowledge of community resources and ability to make professional referrals
- Relationship-building with peers, staff, partners, and ministry officials
- French language is an asset
- Current First Aid/CPR certification
- Current Broad Record Check (criminal background check)
- Valid driver’s license
