Job Summary
Provide culturally responsive support to Native American youth and families through individualized planning, mentorship, and coordination with community resources. Build trust using engagement tactics aligned with Native American values, offer transportation to appointments and events, and connect youth to traditional activities and leadership opportunities. Notify the assigned caseworker immediately if a youth misses scheduled appointments and support goals of safety, permanency, and well-being. Deliver in-person services at the referring office, client homes, or community locations, serving 15 clients monthly over a 12-month period with prior approval for extensions. Complete and submit clear documentation timely per contract requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certification
- Deep, lived experience within a Native American and Alaska Native community
- A deep understanding of culturally specific approaches to mental health, addiction recovery, and holistic healing
- Experience working within the Native American/Alaska Native community
- Peer Support Specialist (PSS) or Peer Wellness Specialist certification
- One year of experience performing the duties noted above or equivalents
- Willingness and ability to work flexible work schedule
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients, the community, and other staff members
- Must pass a pre-employment or for cause drug tests
- Must pass criminal background and DMV checks
- Must agree to refrain from illicit drug use, marijuana use, and prescription drug abuse, both on and off the job
- Must agree to model alcohol sobriety
- Must sign a 'Drug-Free/Alcohol-Free Workplace Certification Form' and NARA NW 'Modeling Sobriety Policy Form' as a condition of employment
Desired Qualifications
- Peer Support Specialist (PSS) or Peer Wellness Specialist certification preferred but will be required within the first year of hire
- Knowledge of mental health issues and child welfare services preferred
- Experience working with Native American/ Alaska Native community is considered a plus
