Job Summary
Instructors will provide free track and field instruction to children in NYC parks, trained by CPF and employed seasonally by the CityParks Play department. The role is part-time with weekend morning classes (9am–12pm) in spring/fall and summer weekday sessions (9am–12pm). Compensation ranges from $17–$35 per hour, commensurate with experience (approximately 7–14 hours per week). Responsibilities include demonstrating basic track & field skills, teaching daily lesson plans, organizing groups of up to 50 children, monitoring equipment and attendance, answering questions from parents, and promoting CPF programs within the community.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma
- Experienced players or coaches with knowledge of track & field
- Ability to work with diverse constituencies
- Exceptional communication skills and work-ethic
- Prior group-teaching experience preferred, preferably with children
- Willingness and ability to carry and transport sports equipment as needed
- Applicants will be subject to a background check and SafeSport training
