Job Summary
Implement scheduled social, entertainment, sporting, recreational, theatrical, and craft programs for guests aged 2 to 17 while ensuring activities occur safely and promptly. Serve as an effective host engaging large groups in public venues, utilizing microphone skills and costume/character roles to entertain. Maintain approachability with guests of all ages, offering hospitality and explaining ship information and youth program policies to parents. Manage storage, inventory, and ordering of program equipment, supplies, gifts, and prizes. Collaborate with other cruise staff and shipboard departments while adhering to Safety and Environmental Protection policies. Report youth program operations and safety details with attention to detail.
Required Qualifications
- Passion for working with children
- Embrace of the Norwegian Mission
- Comfort speaking on a microphone
- Ability to engage large groups of people of a variety of ages in a public venue
- Comfort with dressing up in costume and performing character roles
- Comfort speaking with parents/adults regarding general ship information as well as Youth Program policies and guidelines
- Organizational/administrative skills
- Attentiveness to detail when involved with reporting youth program operations and safety
- Ability to be accessible to and approachable with guests, both young and old
- Patience as a listener
- Ability to offer hospitality service to guests even when the situation falls outside of Youth Programs
- Ability to work as a team member in cooperation with other cruise staff members, as well as with all other shipboard departments
- Familiarity with the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy and the SEMS
- Ability to carry out the policies and procedures appropriate for his/her position
