Job Summary
Teach gymnastics skills to kids from beginners to advanced while supervising participants at all points of the day. Set up, breakdown, and properly store equipment in the gym closet. Generate new ideas to implement into the daily schedule and supervise and help train volunteers. Act as a role model for YMCA Core Values and help create a climate that fosters YMCA goals and a fun, engaging atmosphere for all participants. Attend all staff meetings and training sessions. This role requires CPR and First Aid certification, high school diploma or GED, and practical knowledge of all levels of gymnastics. Schedule includes Monday and Thursday 4pm–8:15pm and Saturday 9am–1pm.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- Practical and technical knowledge of all levels of gymnastics
- Motivated
- Energetic
- Able to communicate with participants and parents
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Ability to supervise children by sight and sound at all times
- Ability to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting
- Ability to remain calm, objective and respectful in potentially stressful situations
- Ability to move around the gym to assist children and supervise children with daily activities, social interaction, physical and emotional needs
- Ability to lift equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs
- Ability to move from program site to branch or site to site
- Required to enter all YMCA environments including, program space, buses, schools, pools, and program area
