Job Summary
Lead youth and adult sports programs at the Andover/North Andover YMCA, managing leagues, clubs, and vacation week initiatives while developing inclusive curriculums and seasonal schedules. Oversee staff, coaches, and volunteers to ensure program quality, safety, and member satisfaction, including recruiting, training, and evaluating personnel. Collaborate with marketing and leadership teams on program promotion, budget development, and strategic planning to drive continuous growth. Maintain accurate records of attendance and incidents, manage facility usage, and coordinate special events to support community outreach and annual campaign goals.
Required Qualifications
- Associate or a minimum of 3 years of full-time equivalent experience in a degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in leading youth recreational or athletic programs, including staff and volunteer supervision
- Strong leadership, planning, communication, and customer service skills
- Familiarity with diverse populations and experience fostering inclusive and welcoming environments
- Familiarity with a variety of sports and the ability to teach multiple skill levels
- Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple programs simultaneously
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required (or willingness to obtain within 60 days)
- Ability to work evenings and weekends (Tuesday-Saturday schedule) and events as needed
- Must have the physical ability to participate in sports and supervise active settings
- Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs
- Must be comfortable working in a dynamic indoor/outdoor environment and navigating gym and field settings
- Must be able to use a computer, phone, and related systems for communication and recordkeeping
