Youth Shelter Specialist Per Diem - HH

Job Summary
Provide guidance, supervision, and services to youth participants within the YNC Shelter Programs at Hutton House using non-judgmental, positive youth development practices. Establish and monitor daily living routines, facilitate educational, social, and recreational activities, and build rapport while maintaining healthy boundaries. Manage crisis prevention, intervention, and de-escalation for youth, adhering to agency protocols for reporting and seeking support. Assist with personal hygiene, medication administration, and medical care, while enforcing house rules and arbitrating disputes. Prepare incident reports, complete data entry, and maintain accurate documentation of facility conditions and client progress. Adhere to all licensing regulations, emergency procedures, and shift procedures, including day or night rotations and emergency coverage.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 6 months related experience and/or training
- High School diploma or GED
- Meet all state licensing requirements for group homes
- At least twenty-one (21) years of age
- Ability to push or pull up to 25 pounds
- Pass agency paid criminal justice screening including fingerprints
- Pass agency paid TB (Tuberculosis) screening
- Pass agency paid health screening and/or drug testing
- First Aid training within seven (7) days of employment
- Valid California driver's license
- Current proof of auto insurance coverage
- Pass agency paid MVR clearance with no more than 2 points
- Represent the agency in a professional and competent manner
- Advocate for the best interests of the agency and clients we serve
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, clients, supervisors and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
- Will promote and support a culturally and linguistically diverse workforce
- Maintain confidentiality and confidential information in accordance with legal standards and/or agency regulations
- Participate in assigned scheduled agency meetings, in-service trainings, conferences and other trainings
- Observance of assigned working hours and program appointments
- Performance of assigned duties with a positive attitude
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Perform job duties in a safe manner
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with youth or young adults and/or working in shelters or group homes
- Experience and ability to work effectively with youth, adults and community members
- Prior experience working with historically underserved youth and families
- Valid California driver's license and current proof of auto insurance coverage, preferred
