Job Summary
Life Coach will provide direct supervision, mentoring, and life skills coaching to youth aged 10-17 living in a temporary emergency shelter. Responsibilities include supervising youth, conducting intake, providing crisis intervention, delivering life skills training (e.g., cooking, cleaning, resume creation, employment applications), maintaining confidential records, coordinating with Shelter Manager and Lead Life Coach, ensuring safety and security, transporting youth as needed, and representing HWAM in public settings. The role requires strong ethics, trauma-informed care, ability to work evenings/weekends, and capable driving and documentation skills. Requires a high level of professionalism, cultural competency, and the ability to work independently or with supervision within agency guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one (1) year experience working with at-risk youth ages 10-17 years old
- Experience in the use of computers, word processing, data base, and spreadsheet software applications
- First Aid/CPR certification AND Food Handler’s certification within 20 days of hire
- Valid Oregon driver’s license at time of hire
