Job Summary

Manage, create, research, budget, and implement youth, teen, and family programming including summer camps, after-school services, and member child watch for infants up to age 5. Supervise staff and volunteers by scheduling, developing curriculum, and executing performance appraisals while recruiting and training personnel. Recruit, train, and execute performance appraisals of all staff and volunteers in assigned areas. Develop relationships that foster program growth and new programming opportunities. Work with the management team on fundraising events and support association and branch fundraising efforts. Evaluate programs regularly using association-approved processes and ensure safety procedures are followed with incident reports filed. Develop collaborative efforts with external entities to strengthen programs and resources. Returns communication modalities within 24 hours and shows initiative in the absence of supervision. Requires close and distance vision, moderate to loud noise tolerance, and ability to lift 30 pounds.

Required Qualifications

  • Committed to the YMCA mission, vision, and values
  • Possesses a four (4) year degree (preferred) in a related field or experience of at least two years directing, organizing and running similar programs
  • Exhibit proven knowledge in program management, staff development, and public relations
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent human relations skills and experience in successfully working with diverse groups of people
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • CPR/AED certification, First Aid and Emergency Procedures Child Abuse Prevention training required or must be obtained upon hire
  • Active CDL required or willing to begin certification within 90 days of hire
  • Willing to attain a lifeguard certification
  • Completed CPR, AED, First Aid, O2, in accordance with Conditions of Employment
  • Understands and abides by all policies and procedures as set forth by the association, specifically within the Employee Handbook
  • Works a schedule that reflects the needs of the branch
  • Role may require lifting to 30 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud

  • Basic marketing skills
  • HRIS software for payroll purposes
  • MS Office Suite skill
  • Willingness to learn YSAL association operational and budgeting software
  • Possesses a four (4) year degree (preferred) in a related field
