Job Summary
Youth Services Behavioral Specialist assists in implementing individual and group treatment plans to support rehabilitation of court-involved youth, providing direct supervision and engagement at a Youth Development Center or Juvenile Detention Center. Responsibilities include maintaining custody, safeguarding youths, applying proper methods to interact with juveniles, and participating in a structured pay/benefit package with opportunities for advancement. Requires ability to physically restrain youth after proper training and willingness to work a variable schedule, including weekends and holidays. Education path accepts a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education/experience; a sign-on bonus is offered and employee referral programs are in place. Training and credentialing requirements include Juvenile Justice Officer Basic Training and compliance with standards set by the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of related human services experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with people.
- Selected applicant must attend and successfully complete and pass the Juvenile Justice Officer Basic Training certification program.
