Job Summary
Facilitate youth climbing programs for ages 6-17 by guiding games, technique instruction, and team-building activities while maintaining a safe, welcoming gym environment. Collaborate with the Youth Program Coordinator to structure daily schedules, execute plans including ice breakers, and ensure proper equipment setup and breakdown. Act as a guide for children and parents regarding gym etiquette, while communicating effectively with other instructors, department teams, and guardians. Teach proper climbing techniques, safety protocols, and equipment usage, and maintain a positive atmosphere by interacting respectfully with all stakeholders. Perform day-to-day operations including cleaning spaces and replying to communications, ensuring regular attendance and accurate clocking in.
Required Qualifications
- Be able to belay using the P.B.U.S. method
- Capable of creating and executing a vision for a Youth Climbing Program
- Excellent communicator, motivator, and collaborator
- CPR/First Aid Certified
- Able to pass a background check
- Constantly: 6 or more hours
- Ability to use hands to grasp and arms to reach to propel oneself up and down a climbing wall and/or use a belay device and rope system
- Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships)
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
- Ability to talk and hear
- Ability to wear a harness, helmet
- Color Vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)
