Job Summary
Guide and support youth aged 15 to 24 in Thurston and Mason counties by mentoring them through adult responsibilities and sharing personal recovery experiences to foster empowerment. Maintain active involvement with participants throughout treatment while conducting outreach to engage new and disengaged clients. Collaborate closely with therapists to offer comprehensive behavioral health support, helping young people become active agents in their own care. This role utilizes lived experience to build healthy relationships and ensure participants have the resources needed to thrive in their transition to adulthood.
Required Qualifications
- certified peer counselor certification
- Agency Affiliated Counselor license
- Associate Degree with 2 years of experience working with at-risk youth or families
- High school diploma and experience
- lived experience as a participant in Behavioral Health (mental health) services or with multiple-system involvement
- confidence in their recovery
- lived experience letter with a brief synopsis of your lived experience and a focused explanation of how you maintain your recovery
- Successfully clear a thorough background check with no history of causing harm, particularly to children or vulnerable adults
- Maintain a clean criminal record, demonstrating professional and personal integrity
- valid Washington State Driver's License
- at least five years of driving experience
- good driving record for the past three years
- proof of auto insurance with coverage of $100,000 or more
- cultural sensitivity and the ability to respond to the diverse needs of the organization's community
- CPR/1st Aid/Bloodborne Pathogen certification
- strong interpersonal skills
- ability to collaborate effectively within a team
