Job Summary
Youth Peer Advocates (YPA) work with young individuals aged 18-30 who have experienced social, emotional, medical, developmental, or behavioral challenges. Responsibilities include developing coping skills, promoting wellness, providing mutual support, aiding in self-advocacy, connecting youth to community resources, and mentoring during transitions in care. Required qualifications include at least a High School Diploma, relevant experience, and a valid NYS Driver's License. Candidates should have strong communication skills and be able to assist youth in navigating service systems and advocating for their needs.
Required Qualifications
- Be at least eighteen (18) years of age
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
- Valid New York State Driver’s License
- Acceptable clearance checks for State Central Register, Driver license and fingerprinting
- Compliance with health regulations for physical/mantoux testing
Desired Qualifications
- BA degree preferred
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working with seriously emotional disturbed youth or children
