Job Summary
Provide direct supervision and care for high-risk male youth in a secure residential setting, assisting with daily activities, school, and groups while maintaining accurate logs and facility security checks. Mediate youth problems using relational, strengths-based practices and apply approved verbal and physical de-escalation techniques to ensure safety. Utilize Dialectical Behavioral Therapy coaching, conduct therapeutic programming, and reinforce individual treatment plans to support behavioral changes and discharge planning. Monitor youth visiting, enforce professional boundaries, and transport clients to appointments using mechanical restraints as needed. Maintain accountability for youth location and complete all required training and pre-post assignments.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree or higher
- Experience working with at risk or court-involved adolescents
- Experience in residential treatment programs
- Bachelor's degree in the criminal justice field with a related internship
- Understanding and knowledge of gender-specific issues and needs
- Understanding and knowledge of trauma-informed issues and needs
- Understanding and knowledge of culturally responsive issues and needs
- Understanding and knowledge of linguistically appropriate issues and needs
- Strong interpersonal skills

- Ability to interact effectively with a multi-cultural population

- Valid CT driver's license

- Ability to transport clients to appointments and into the community in mechanical restraints
- Capacity to become medication certified
- Capacity to become SCM (Safe Crisis Management) certified
- Willingness to work additional hours and/or overtime as needed
- Willingness to work evening and/or night shifts
- Willingness to work weekends
- Willingness to work holidays
- Ability to complete and pass a mandatory 120-hour training curriculum
- Ability to complete a minimum of 40 hours of training annually
- Knowledge of universal precautions
- Knowledge of risk of communicable diseases
- Ability to conduct 'Pat Downs' of Youth and Visitors
- Ability to apply mechanical restraints when necessary
