Job Summary
Implement youth leadership programs and support participants in developing skills through sports activities. Coordinate tournaments, sport events, and special activities at partner schools while managing logistics and providing coaching coverage. Develop, review, and update Sport Leadership curriculum and resources. Plan and facilitate information sessions for families regarding registration and community opportunities. Observe coaches and volunteers during program delivery to provide mentoring, feedback, and practical guidance. Support orientation of new coaches and youth leaders. Promote programs and recruit eligible participants through schools and community networks. Maintain accurate records, track attendance, and submit monthly reports on program outcomes. Serve as a liaison between the program, families, and host sites to ensure clear communication.
Required Qualifications
- Experience participating in and coaching sports
- Post-secondary education in recreation, kinesiology, education, child and youth care, community development, social work, or a related field
- Experience working with children and youth in sport, recreation, education, or community programs
- Experience developing or adapting curriculum, session plans, and program resources
- Knowledge of positive youth development and inclusive practices
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills
- Ability to build relationships with youth, families, schools, coaches, and community partners
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, maintain records, and support reporting and evaluation
- Strong cross-cultural awareness and experience working with diverse and underserved communities
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends
- A current Police Information Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, and Intervention Record Check, completed within the previous six (6) months
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License, clean driver's abstract, and access to a reliable vehicle
