Job Summary
Provide active supervision of elementary-aged students during the YMCA's After School Enrichment Program, ensuring their safety, well-being, and adherence to policies. Build positive relationships with youth, assist with homework, and facilitate STEAM, recreational, and outdoor activities. Support daily operations by managing school pick-ups, maintaining attendance, and supervising transitions. Utilize positive behavior guidance strategies to encourage respectful conduct and maintain safe, clean program spaces. Report accidents, injuries, or hazards immediately according to procedures. Promote YMCA programs and communicate effectively with families and staff. Adhere to Child Abuse Prevention policies and complete required trainings. Seasonal position ending after the 2026-2027 school year, Monday through Friday from 12:30 to 6:00 pm.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma/GED
- California Department of Justice (DOJ) Live Scan fingerprint background check
- Child Abuse Prevention training
- CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification (Adult and Child/Infant) from American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or American Safety & Health Institute
Desired Qualifications
- One year or more of college
- Previous experience working with children, preferably in a before or after school or day camp setting
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: mentoring, arts & crafts, homework assistance, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games
