Job Summary
Youth Language Instructor needed to develop preschool Swedish language abilities and cultural competency through play-based, developmentally appropriate activities. Roles include teaching in either Lilla or Svenska Skolan programs on Saturday mornings, creating lesson plans and instructional materials, and collaborating with the Language Programs Manager to expand ASI’s educational offerings. Responsibilities also include administrative tasks (timesheets, evaluations), attending planning sessions, encouraging ongoing participation in Swedish language and culture, and stepping in as substitute instructor as needed. Must be able to work on Saturdays in Minneapolis, with fluent Swedish and English, and strong knowledge of Swedish culture and traditions. This is an on-site, part-time role with a compensation of $35.04/hour. Equal opportunity employer statement included.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or a minimum of 1 year's language instruction experience, including experience developing course curriculum and delivering language courses using a variety of teaching methods.
- Experience teaching preschool and working with early elementary age children.
- Fluency or near-native speaking ability in Swedish and English with demonstrated ability to articulate grammatical features of language with ease.
