Job Summary
Youth Housing Support Staff (Swing Shift) at Cocoon House provides a safe, supportive residential environment for teens in Everett. Responsibilities include building supportive relationships, modeling healthy boundaries, de-escalating crises using trauma-informed and equity-based approaches, completing intakes/exits and data entry for youth records, coordinating with case managers, supervising youth, teaching household tasks, maintaining facilities, preparing meals, arranging appointments and transportation, and collaborating with staff to implement youth case plans. Must be on-site in Everett, work a swing shift (3:30pm–11:30pm), have weekend availability, and possess a high school diploma or GED; DCYF background clearance and valid driver’s license with reliable transportation are required. The role emphasizes inclusion, anti-racist practices, and youth development while supporting a variety of lifestyles and cultural/spiritual practices.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or high school equivalency
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- 6 months minimum of experience working with youth
- DCYF background clearance
- Acceptable driver’s abstract with no more than 2 violations in 3 years (if driving required)
- Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation
- Ability to diffusing escalated youth
- Ability to record and document information for case planning
- Familiarity with local services and access
- Ability to assess dangerous emergencies and access emergency services
- Ability to build rapport with youth and staff
- Commitment to trauma-informed practices
- Acceptance of variety of lifestyles, behaviors, and cultural/spiritual practices
- Ability to supervise youth and enforce program policies
- Ability to prepare meals and assist with groceries/transportation
- Ability to transport youth to appointments
