Job Summary
Lead weekly flag football classes for K-5 students in Oakland from September through December 2026, teaching game-filled lessons and ensuring a safe, positive environment. Coach Saturday game days in October and November against other schools, transporting equipment to and from each site. Arrive on time for two-hour afternoon sessions and complete mandatory orientation training. Interact positively with parents, teachers, and school staff while communicating via email and phone. Maintain accurate attendance and demonstrate patience with young children. This role offers competitive hourly pay, ongoing training, and opportunities to coach additional sports like tennis and basketball.
Required Qualifications
- Must be available for the entire season
- Must be available to coach in the afternoon on your program day (at least one day/week)
- Must have reliable transportation to their coaching sites
- Must be able to bring equipment to & from class
- Must have strong communication skills
- Must be a patient person who understands young children & their need to develop at their own pace
- Must pass a Federal and state Background Check and/or FBI Fingerprinting (Livescan)
- Must test negative for TB test (within the last 4 years)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience as a player or coach (at least two years)
- Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
- Must be able to interact positively with parents, teachers, and school staff
- Must be able to set up before and clean up after your program
- Must be able to transport all coaching equipment to/from class each week
- Must be able to participate in Saturday game days by coaching your team in matches against other schools
- Must be able to attend an orientation training in person
- Must be able to teach the FUNdamentals of sports through a cohesive and game-filled lesson plan
- Must be able to lead a fun & safe weekly flag football class for kids ages 5-11
- Must be able to work with girls and co-ed flag football
- Must be able to coach other sports as well, including tennis, basketball, soccer, volleyball, pickleball, and more
- Must be able to work with each coach to assign locations that work best for you
- Must be able to coach at one or more of our ANTS partner elementary schools in the Oakland and/or greater East Bay area
- Must be able to work with each coach to assign locations that work best for you
