Job Summary
Youth Engagement Specialists provide supervision and support in a crisis shelter/transitional living program for youths 18-24, including triage of door/phone, safety assessments, crisis prevention/intervention, documentation, and engagement with youth. Responsibilities include leading group activities, teaching basic life skills, maintaining shift notes and incident reports, coordinating with a multidisciplinary team, ensuring safety and policy adherence, and performing light cleaning/building maintenance. Overnight shifts may require staying awake and completing overnight checklists; incumbents act as a positive adult role model and participate in activities to foster a supportive, inclusive environment. Requires strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to work in a diverse setting; education preferred is High School Diploma or bachelor’s degree in human services or related field with 1-2 years of relevant experience.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience with youth ages 18-24
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Computer literate (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Valid CA driver's license preferred
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
- Open 24/7; some weekend work may be required
