Job Summary

Conduct enrichment activities, advocacy, and leadership development for transition-aged youth (ages 16-25) within the System of Care. Lead development of peer support and educational programs while facilitating training to certify peer support specialists. Execute community outreach to educate families and youth on services, and collect data for funder reporting. Create and maintain program awareness through social media, speak on panels about lived experience, and serve on committees representing the young adult perspective. This part-time role requires living in Prince George's County, working 20 hours weekly with a flexible schedule including nights and weekends, and possessing a current Maryland driver's license for in-state travel. Candidates must have lived experience accessing mental health or substance use services and meet criteria for Peer Recovery Specialist Certification.

Required Qualifications

  • Lived experience accessing mental health/behavioral health services
  • Must live in Prince George's County
  • Meet criteria to obtain Peer Recovery Specialist Certification
  • Ability to join youth advocacy boards and committees
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and communicate effectively with a remote supervisor
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and/or weekends as needed
  • Ability to work with youth and young adults from diverse cultural, religious, racial and economic backgrounds, as well as LGBTQIA+ youth and young adults
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with social media and ability to adhere to Taking Flight's guidelines pertaining to usage in promotion, outreach and education
  • Ability to create and maintain positive and professional relationships with partners
  • Current Maryland driver's license and access to own vehicle
  • in-state travel required for various meetings/events across the state and to the MCF office in Columbia
  • Successful completion of a background check
