Job Summary
The Youth Empowerment Specialist (YES) provides 24-hour residential care to youth ages 12-17 within a multi-disciplinary treatment team. Responsibilities include supervising youth, providing emotional support, crisis response and de-escalation, implementing treatment plans, maintaining confidential records, coordinating transportation, and modeling appropriate behavior. Required to work varied shifts (days, evenings, midnights), complete Safe Crisis Management training, and participate in supervision and staff meetings. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree preferred and a High School Diploma or GED required, must be at least 21, proficiency with MS Office, background/drug screening, and CPR/First Aid training. The role emphasizes safety, professional development, collaboration with the treatment team, and upholding licensing standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Valid Driver’s License may be required for some YES positions
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Ability to read, write, and converse in English
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen
- Successful completion of a background screening
- Successful completion of a TB skin test or proof of a negative chest x-ray
- 40 hours of annual training (including 16 hours of SCM)
- CPR/First Aid training
- Excellent Foundations training
- Experience with emotionally disturbed children preferred
- Ability to work varied shifts (days, evenings, midnights)
- Maintain confidentiality and accurate records
- Transportation of youth to school/appointments
- Knowledge of licensing/certification standards
