Youth Development Supervisor - Cary Home - PAT III

Job Summary

Oversee daily operations for twenty-plus Youth Development Specialists and Workers, conducting performance evaluations, managing progressive discipline, and ensuring quality care through direct supervision. Coordinate residential programming, including Independent Living skills groups and transportation logistics, while enforcing compliance with DBT, Five Domains of Wellbeing, and accreditation standards. Manage staff schedules, provide crisis intervention, and serve on a rotating weekend basis. Maintain accurate charting, reports, and data entry into the National Youth in Transition Database. Report directly to the Executive Director within Tippecanoe County Youth Services Residential Services.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and one year of experience working in a residential setting
  • Associates Degree, with 2 or more years of experience working in a residential setting
  • Ability to complete all required certifications and training programs
  • Certification or ability to be certified in CPR/First Responder
  • Thorough knowledge of best practices for supervising and engaging youth in residential treatment settings
  • Knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Ability to accurately complete required reports, such as charting and other notes/reports as required
  • Ability to supervise others, including providing objective interventions, feedback and monitoring
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with co-workers, other County departments, schools, Probation Officers, related social agencies, and the public
  • Ability to be sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities
  • Ability to deal swiftly, rationally and decisively with potentially violent individuals
  • Ability to de-escalate volatile situations by means of conversation/negotiation
  • Ability to provide public access to and or maintain confidentiality of Department information and records according to state requirements
  • Ability to comply with all employer and Department policies and work rules
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and with others in a team environment
  • Ability to occasionally work extended, weekend and/or evening hours
  • Possession of a valid driver's license
  • Demonstrated safe driving record
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds
