Job Summary
Two-person Full-time Flex Houseparents live on campus at Milton Hershey School to supervise and guide groups of 8–13 students, providing care, mentorship, and supervision; responsibilities include daily routines, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, overseeing budgeting and household reporting, and transitioning from varying student homes to a Placed Houseparent role. On-site housing accompanies a schedule of nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off, with potential relocation to Hershey area as part of the role.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Willingness to relocate and live on campus
- Ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Two-person married-couple requirement with both spouses applying individually
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus
Additional Requirements
- Must be legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must complete individual employment applications
- No alcohol permitted while on duty
- Pet limitations: fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
