Job Summary
Youth Development Specialist role for two-person, legally married couples to serve as Full-time Flex Houseparents on a Milton Hershey School campus. Couples reside in on-campus student homes, supervise 8–13 students, provide care, guidance, supervision, and support to foster academic, emotional, and social development. Responsibilities include daily supervision, mentorship, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental/recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Chapel attendance, budget oversight, and reporting. Schedule starts with nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off, with eventual placement as a Placed Houseparent living and working with the same group of students. Required Qualifications
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
