Job Summary
Youth Development Specialist couples live on-campus as Flex Houseparents in Hershey, PA, supervising 8–13 students, providing mentorship, managing household routines, administering medications, transporting students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Chapel, and overseeing budgeting and housing reporting. Initially nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off, with eventual transition to a placed houseparent in a dedicated student home. Relocation assistance provided; comprehensive benefits and paid time off available. Requires a high school diploma or GED, two-year married status, both spouses aged 27+, valid U.S. driver’s license, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and compliance with campus policies (smoke-free, weapon-free, no alcohol on duty). Two-person role with on-campus housing and meals while on duty; both spouses must submit individual applications for consideration.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- High school diploma or GED
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
- For consideration, both spouses must complete individual employment applications
