Job Summary
Youth Development Specialist role at Milton Hershey School requires a two-person, married couple to serve as Full-time Flex Houseparents in on-campus student homes (8–13 students per home). Responsibilities include supervising and mentoring students, managing household routines and schedules, administering medications, transporting students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, overseeing budgeting and household reporting, and transitioning to a Placed Houseparent role. Schedule initially comprises nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off; benefits include housing, meals, health/dental/vision, retirement options, relocation assistance, paid time off, and other comprehensive benefits. Requires high school diploma or GED, valid U.S. driver’s license, ability to lift 50 lbs, and being legally married for at least two years with both spouses aged 27 or older. Relocation assistance provided; two spots available for a married couple.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
- This is a two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
