Job Summary
Two-person full-time Flex Houseparent role at Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA. Couples reside in on-campus student homes, supervising 8–13 students, providing care, guidance, supervision, and development opportunities. Responsibilities include daily supervision and mentorship, managing household routines and schedules, administering medications, transporting students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, budgeting and household reporting, with a nine-on, three-off duty cycle transitioning to a placed houseparent. Qualifications require a high school diploma or GED, valid U.S. driver’s license with certification to drive student home vans, ability to lift 50 lbs, willingness to live and work with a same-home group of students, and a commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; spouses must be legally married for at least two years and both aged 27 or older. For consideration, both spouses must complete individual applications.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Sunday Chapel
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
Additional Requirements
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
