Job Summary
Flex Houseparents (Youth Development Specialist) provide care, supervision, and mentorship for 8–13 students in on-campus homes, including daily routines, medication administration, transportation to activities, and leading devotions and Sunday Chapel. The role evolves from a nine-on/three-off schedule to a placed houseparent living with the same student group, with accountability for budgeting, household reporting, and fostering a structured, family-like environment that supports students’ academic, emotional, and social development. Requires a two-person, married-couple placement, with both spouses age 27+, a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and experience working with youth. Relocation assistance is provided. Location: Elmwood Park, IL (on-campus, in-person)
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- High school diploma or GED
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol on duty
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; role-model expectations
- Ability to complete individual employment applications for both spouses
