Job Summary
Two-person, full-time Flex Houseparents reside on campus in student homes at Milton Hershey School, supervising and mentoring a group of approximately 8–13 students. Responsibilities include daily supervision, managing household routines and schedules, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and chapel, overseeing budgeting and household reporting, and transitioning from initial nine-on/three-off duty to a placed houseparent in the same student home. The role requires a legally married couple for at least two years, with both spouses aged 27 or older, and the ability to live and work together in a family-like on-campus environment with on-site housing, relocation assistance, comprehensive benefits, and paid training.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
- Both spouses must complete individual employment applications for consideration
