Job Summary
Full-time Flex Houseparents at Milton Hershey School live on campus in student homes, providing daily supervision, mentorship, routines management, medication administration, transportation to activities, and engagement in developmental and recreational activities. They lead daily devotions and accompany students to Sunday Chapel, oversee budgeting and household reporting, and transition into a placed houseparent role while serving a group of approximately 8–13 students. The role requires a legally married two-person couple for consideration, both spouses aged 27 or older, with at least a high school diploma or GED, the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, a valid U.S. driver’s license with ability to become certified to drive student home vans, and relocation to Hershey, PA. Benefits include a salary of $44,768 per person plus comprehensive benefits, relocation assistance, paid training, and paid time off; the schedule includes nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off, with eventual continuation in a fixed home environment for the same group of students.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
