Job Summary
Two-person Flex Houseparent role at Milton Hershey School: a full-time, on-campus residence-based position for married couples who live with a group of 8–13 students in a home setting. Responsibilities include daily supervision and mentorship, managing household routines, administering medications, transporting students to activities, planning developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, budgeting and reporting, and eventually transitioning to a placed houseparent with the same student group. Benefits include salary per person with comprehensive benefits and relocation assistance. Both spouses must complete individual applications. Requires high school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license and ability to drive student vans, ability to lift 50 lbs, and adherence to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus with no alcohol on duty.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Two-person couple must be legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfort leading daily devotions and attending Sunday Chapel
- Experience working with youth (volunteering or employment)
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus
- No alcohol permitted while on duty
- Pet allowances as stated (fish and one dog of approved breed)
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; role modeling for students
- Willingness to relocate to Hershey, PA and reside on-campus
- Flex Houseparent responsibilities across multiple student homes
- Participation in budgeting and household reporting
- Supervision and mentorship of students
- Plan and engage in developmental and recreational activities
- Administer medications as needed
- Transportation duties for activities
- Relocation assistance provided
- Paid training provided
Additional Requirements
- Must be legally married for at least two years
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Two-person role; both spouses must apply separately
