Job Summary
Youth Development Specialist role for married couples serving as Full-time Flex Houseparents at Milton Hershey School. Couples reside in on-campus student homes to provide care, guidance, supervision, and support for 8–13 students, with duties including daily supervision, mentorship, managing routines and schedules, administering medications, transporting students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, and overseeing budgeting and reporting. Schedule starts with nine days on duty followed by three days off, with eventual placement into a fixed home with the same group of students. Includes relocation to Hershey, PA, comprehensive benefits, relocation assistance, paid training, and housing/meal provisions. Requires high school diploma or GED, valid U.S. driver’s license, experience with youth, and compliance with safety and campus policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must complete individual employment applications
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Additional Requirements
- Must be legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol on duty
- Pet restrictions apply (fish and one dog of approved breeds)
