Job Summary
Youth Development Specialist (two-person Flex Houseparents) on Milton Hershey School campus in Hershey, PA. Couples reside in on-campus student homes, provide care, guidance, supervision, and development opportunities for ~813 students. Responsibilities include daily supervision, mentoring, managing household routines, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning developmental/recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, budgeting and reporting. Schedule starts with nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off; later transitions to a placed houseparent living with the same group of students. Benefits include salary per person $44,768, relocation assistance, comprehensive health benefits, retirement options, and paid training.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Two-spouse requirement: both spouses must complete individual employment applications
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and Sunday Chapel activities
- Two-person, legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
