Job Summary
Youth Development Specialist couples reside on-campus in Hershey, PA to serve as Full-time Flex Houseparents for 8–13 students. They provide daily supervision, mentorship, manage household routines and student schedules, administer medications, drive students to activities, plan developmental and recreational activities, lead daily devotions and Chapel, oversee budgeting and household reporting, and initially support multiple student homes on a nine-days-on/three-days-off cycle before becoming placed Houseparents living with the same group of students. Includes relocation assistance, paid training, comprehensive benefits, and a path to a stable on-campus family-like environment focused on students’ academic, emotional, and social development.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Two-spouse married for at least two years
- Both spouses must complete individual employment applications
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Age 27 or older for both spouses
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Work on a nine-on, three-off schedule (nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off)
- Relocation assistance and paid training provided
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- This is a two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
