Job Summary
Provide daily supervision, mentorship, and guidance for 8–13 students while managing household routines, schedules, and medication administration. Drive students to activities, lead daily devotions, and accompany them to Sunday Chapel services. Plan and engage in developmental and recreational activities, oversee budgeting and household reporting, and ensure student wellness. Upon hire, support various student homes on a schedule of nine consecutive duty days followed by three days off, transitioning eventually to a Placed Houseparent role with a specific student group. This two-person position requires legally married couples (minimum two years) aged 27+ to reside in on-campus homes, providing a structured, family-like environment for students from disadvantaged backgrounds at Milton Hershey School.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- This is a two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed
- Valid U.S. driver's license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
