Job Summary
Youth Development Specialist for Milton Hershey School as full-time Flex Houseparents. Couples reside in on-campus student homes, supervising and mentoring 8–13 students, managing routines and schedules, administering medications, driving to activities, planning developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Chapel, overseeing budgeting and reporting. Nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off; later transition to a Placed Houseparent role living with the same group of students. Relocation assistance provided; benefits include medical/dental/vision, retirement, PTO. Requires high school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license, ability to lift 50 lbs, and two-year married status for both spouses; must be at least 27 years old for both.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Two-spouse requirement: legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol on duty
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; ability to serve as role models for students
- Willingness to relocate to Hershey, PA and reside on-campus in student homes
Additional Requirements
- Must be legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must complete individual employment applications
- Both spouses must be 27 years or older
