Job Summary
Youth Development Specialist role for married couples serving as Full-time Flex Houseparents at Milton Hershey School. Couples reside in on-campus student homes to supervise, mentor, and support 8–13 students, managing routines, medications, transportation to activities, and daily devotions, with a schedule starting nine days on duty then three days off, and potential transition to a Placed Houseparent living with the same group. Includes relocation assistance, comprehensive benefits, and paid training; candidates must be legally married for at least two years, both spouses age 27 or older, and possess a high school diploma or GED.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed
- Desire to live and work with a group of 8–13 students in on-campus homes
- Placed Houseparent transition after initial period to live with same group of students
- Ability to supervise, mentor, plan activities, and manage budgets in a residential setting
Additional Requirements
- Must be married for at least two years
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Must be willing to relocate to Hershey, PA area for placement as needed
