Job Summary
Flex Houseparents (two-person married couple) run on-campus student homes at Milton Hershey School, providing care, supervision, mentorship, and support for groups of 8–13 students. Responsibilities include daily supervision, managing household routines and student schedules, administering medications, transporting students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, and overseeing budgeting and household reporting. The role starts with a nine-on/three-off schedule across multiple homes and transitions into a placed Houseparent role living with the same group of students. Benefits include salary per person (~$44,768) with total compensation around $168,000 per couple, relocation assistance, comprehensive insurance, retirement options, paid time off, and training.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and Sunday Chapel
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Two spouses must be legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol while on duty
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; role model for students
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Willingness to relocate to Hershey, PA for on-campus roles
- Complete individual employment applications for both spouses
- Proselytizing prohibited during duties
