Job Summary
Full-time Flex Houseparents live on campus at Milton Hershey School and supervise a group of about 8–13 students in an on-site home. Couples provide care, guidance, supervision, and support to promote students’ academic, emotional, and social development. Responsibilities include daily supervision and mentorship, managing household routines and student schedules, administering medications, transporting students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, overseeing budgeting and household reporting, and transitioning into a Placed Houseparent role with the same student group. Requires experience with youth, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, valid driver’s license, and full commitment from both spouses to complete individual applications. Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
- Relocation assistance and paid training provided
- This is a two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
