Job Summary
Youth Development Specialist pairs reside on campus as Full-time Flex Houseparents, supervising and guiding 8–13 students in a family-like home, managing routines, administering medications, driving to activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, budgeting and reporting, with a phased transition from a nine-days-on/three-days-off schedule to a stable placed home. Responsibilities emphasize mentorship, youth development, wellness, activity planning, and fostering academic, emotional, and social growth within a structured campus environment. Requires a legally married two-person team for at least two years, both spouses aged 27+, and a high school diploma or GED, with relocation to Hershey, PA and on-campus housing included in benefits.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel
- No alcohol permitted while on duty
- Pet limitations: fish and one dog of approved breeds
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Willingness for relocation to Hershey, PA
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus
