Job Summary
Youth Development Specialist role for married couples to live in on-campus student homes at Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA, providing care, supervision, mentorship, and development opportunities for groups of 8–13 students. Responsibilities include daily supervision, medication administration, driving to activities, planning developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, budgeting and household reporting, and transitioning from Flex Houseparent to Placed Houseparent while maintaining a structured, family-like environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol on duty
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; role model for students
- Proven experience working with youth (volunteering OK)
- Desire to lead daily devotions and accompany students to Sunday Chapel
- Willingness to relocate to Hershey, PA and reside in on-campus homes
- Ability to follow schedules: nine consecutive days on, three days off
- No more than three dependent children in the student home
- Comfort with journaling or reporting household activities
