Job Summary
Youth Development Specialist - a two-person Full-time Flex Houseparent role for married couples residing on Milton Hershey School campus in Hershey, PA. The role involves supervising and mentoring 8–13 students in on-campus homes, managing household routines and student schedules, administering medications, transporting students to activities, planning developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and chapel visits, and overseeing budgeting and household reporting. The position starts with a nine-on/three-off duty cycle and transitions to a placed houseparent living with the same group of students. Benefits include a salary of $44,768 per person (~$168,000 total per couple), relocation assistance, comprehensive health benefits, retirement options, paid time off, and paid training. Qualifications require experience with youth, two years of married partnership, age 27+, GED or high school diploma, valid U.S. driver's license, ability to lift 50 lbs, and ability to lead devotions and chapel services while adhering to campus policies. Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- This is a two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
