Job Summary
Youth Development Specialist — two-person Flex Houseparent role at Milton Hershey School. Couples reside in on-campus student homes (roughly 8–13 students per home) and provide supervision, mentorship, and support to promote academic, emotional, and social development. Responsibilities include supervising daily routines, administering medications, transporting students to activities, planning and leading developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions, and overseeing budgeting and household reporting. Schedule begins with nine days on duty followed by three days off, transitioning later to a placed houseparent arrangement with continued on-site living and work with the same student group. Relocation assistance and paid training provided; benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and PTO. Requires high school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license, ability to drive school vans, willingness to lead religious activities, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Two-person, married-couple requirement for consideration; both spouses must apply separately.
Required Qualifications

- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Age 27 or older for both spouses
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol on duty
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism in role-model capacity
