Job Summary
Youth Development Specialist – Flex Houseparents (two-person, married couple), based at Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA. Live on-campus in student homes and provide care, supervision, guidance, and developmental activities for 8–13 students. Responsibilities include daily supervision, mentorship, medication administration, transportation to activities, planning and leading developmental/recreational activities, daily devotions and Sunday Chapel attendance, and budgeting/household reporting. Schedule starts with nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off, with potential transition to a placed houseparent role living with the same group of students. Benefits include substantial compensation per person (salary listed per person), comprehensive benefits, relocation assistance, paid training, and PTO. Requires high school diploma or GED, valid U.S. driver’s license with ability to become certified to drive student vans, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be legally married for at least two years, both spouses aged 27+, no more than three dependent children in the home, and adherence to campus behavior standards (smoke-free, weapon-free, no alcohol while on duty). Completion of individual applications by both spouses is required for consideration.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; role model expectations on campus
- Ability to follow a schedule of nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off
- Willingness to relocate to Hershey, PA and reside on-campus
- No smoking, no weapons on campus; alcohol prohibited while on duty
- Pet limitations as described (fish and one dog of approved breeds)
- Commitment to a two-person, married-couple employment
- Completion of individual employment applications by both spouses
