Job Summary
The Youth Development Specialist (YDS) for the Positive Alternative Learning (PAL) program is responsible for delivering community-based outreach services to at-risk youth and their families. Key functions include conducting intake assessments, developing service plans, providing crisis intervention, and case management. The YDS will supervise recreational activities and assist youth in accessing community resources. Essential qualifications include a BA degree in a related field or an A.S. degree with significant experience, valid TB clearance, and CPR certification. Strong judgment, dependability, and the ability to work under stress are also critical.
Required Qualifications
- BA degree in human service or related field and one year related experience
- A.S. degree in Human Services or related field with three years related experience
- Valid Hawaii driver’s license
Desired Qualifications
- Valid TB clearance and Pre-Employment Medical Clearance
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification
- DHS FBI/Criminal History & CAN clearance
- Salvation Army background clearance
- MVR records check with Authorized Driving standards
